4 Signs it's Time to Replace your Boiler

March 04, 2017

Is it time to replace your new boiler? Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning is here with some signs to look for when deciding whether it’s time to purchase a new boiler.

Age

If your condensing boiler gets routine maintenance, you can expect it to operate about 15 years or more. Cast iron boilers can last even longer, even up to 50 years with proper maintenance. If your condensing boiler is close to 15 years or your cast iron boiler is coming up on 50 years, it may be time to think about an upgrade.

Bills

If your energy bills are increasing or you’re having to maintain your boiler more often, it could be because it’s time to invest in a new, more efficient boiler.

Discoloration

If you notice yellow flames on the gas burners and black soot on oil burners it could be a sign that the fuel is not burning adequately and could be generating carbon monoxide. If you see these issues or have any concerns about carbon monoxide in your home, you should call Service Experts or your gas company as soon as possible.

Comfort

If some of the sections in your home are too hot or too cold and you can’t seem to control them properly or get them comfortable, it could be that your boiler is no longer effective and you might need to look into upgrade alternatives.
