What NATE Certification is and Why it Matters

November 08, 2016

Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning in Ocala always tells you about how our service techs are NATE-certified, and while it sounds comforting, what does it actually mean?

NATE stands for North American Technician Excellence and, according to their website, is the nation’s largest certification organization for HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) and refrigeration technicians. The organization was developed by and has been supported by the entire HVAC and refrigeration industry but not all people in the industry are required to be certified by NATE. The certification is voluntary and technicians can provide heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration services without being certified by NATE.

It’s important to Service Experts that our technicians are NATE-certified to make sure we are sending the most qualified and trained technicians into your home. To make sure professionals meet these standards, the NATE-certification tests validate real-world working knowledge of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems for technicians. The assessments are knowledge-based assessments that assess the technician’s knowledge of these standards.

Since Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning focuses on the HVAC side of NATE-certification and not refrigeration, there are only particular areas pertinent to our technicians. NATE exam candidates may receive installation and/or service certification in one or more of the specialty areas listed below:
