Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning in Ocala always talks about how our service techs are NATE-certified, and while it sounds reassuring, what does it actually mean?
NATE is the acronym for North American Technician Excellence and, as stated on their website, is the nation’s largest certification organization for HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) and refrigeration technicians. The organization is owned, operated, developed, and supported by the entire HVAC and refrigeration industry but not all people in the industry are required to be certified by NATE. The certification is optional and technicians can work in the heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration industry without being NATE-certified.
It’s important to Service Experts that our technicians are NATE-certified to make sure we are sending the most qualified and trained technicians into your home. To make sure professionals meet these criteria, the NATE-certification tests validate real-world working knowledge of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems for technicians. The assessments are knowledge-based assessments that assess the technician’s knowledge of these standards.
Since Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning focuses on the HVAC side of NATE-certification instead of refrigeration, there are only particular areas pertinent to our technicians. NATE exam candidates may earn installation and/or service certification in one or more of the specialty areas listed below:
- Air Conditioning
- Air Distribution

- Heat Pumps
- Hydronics Gas (service only)
